On the London Marathon broadcast, the 26th mile was reported as being 4:27 by Daniel Wanjiru.
Turns out this was incorrect. Wanjiru's time from 40km to the finish was 6:39 (1.35 miles) and that comes out to 4:52.5 mile pace so no way he ran 4:27 for a mile on this stretch unless he ran over 6 minute pace for the other .35 which didn't happen. (Thanks to Peter Geithner for first pointing this out to us)
So while Wanjiru managed to summon up something to hold off Bekele who had closed to within 3 seconds of him it wasn't a 4:27 mile which is what we initially reported in our recap.
