I have always raced a HM during hard training weeks but now I am planning a little taper. Does this sound as a good taper plan before HM race?
Last two weeks (from Apr 3 to Apr 16) was hard training 60+ mpw with 3 quality sessions a week + long run of 19 and 20 miles on sunday (my long runs this year are around 30-35% of weekly mileage since I am running only 5 days a week).
This week I lowered mileage to around 45 mpw
Mo, Apr 17 - 40 min gym/weights (light)
Tu, Apr 18 - did easy aerobic 8+ mi (62 min)
We, Apr 19 - did 2 mi w/u + 4 mi tempo @ HM pace + 4x200 + 2 mi c/d (total 9 mi in 61 min)
Th, Apr 20 - did 44 min recovery (5 mi)
Fr, Apr 21 - took rest day (stretching)
Sa, Apr 22 - hills (8-9 mi)
Su, Apr 23 - progressing long run 13 mi
Next week is a race week and I planning a rebound to 50-55 mpw
Mo, Apr 24 - 30 min gym/weights (light)
Tu, Apr 25 - easy 80-90 min (probably 10-12 mi)
We, Apr 26 - 2 mi w/u + 8 x 2 min on w/ 1 min off @ HM pace + 4x200 + 2 mi c/d (9-10 mi)
Th, Apr 27 - easy 45 min (5 mi)
Fr, Apr 28 - rest day (stretching)
Sa, Apr 29 - easy 20-30 min (3 mi)
Su, Apr 30 - RACE
