Missed a week of running - have I lost any fitness?

    Been having some knee problems as of late. Ended up having to take 8 days off to get it back to feeling normal again. Just a nasty runners knee flare up...

    I'm in the middle of outdoor track. I was doing fantastic PRing every weekend but now I feel like I'm just out of it. Today was my first run back and it just felt super sluggish.

    I don't know how much fitness I actually lost but I guess it's getting to my head. I feel like I'm losing confidence because of the time I had to take to recover.

    Have I lost much fitness? Just hoping I'll still be in the swing of things in a couple days.

    Absolutely no fitness lost, basically impossible in 8 days. It may have slowed the ball but it will get rolling again soon. Try longer warm-ups for a few days

    No, you haven't lost any fitness after a week off.

    You have disrupted a regular routine causing your body to slightly de-tune and your brain to play games.

    Get healed up and get back to PRing.

    I've heard you can go for 2 weeks and not lose fitness?

    Runner's knee sucks; you're lucky you only had to take 8 days. I'd still be careful with hills though!

    Same thing for me (different minor injury). Don't lose your confidence, it plays a big role. The first couple of days are always rough after time off, once you get back into your routine you'll be right back where you were.
