Kenyan runners will speak their ethnic language as their first language (Pokot, Nandi, Kipsigis, Kikuyu, Maasai, etc.) and Ethiopians will as well (usually Oromo).
They will also speak the national lingua franca, Swahili in Kenya and Amharic in Ethiopia.
And yet they still routinely (Kenyas especially) give press conferences in English.
Pretty impressive, considering that none of these languages are even remotely related to each other.
