Depends entirely on what you're selling.

What are the hardest kinds of sales?
Stressful, yes, Difficult, No unless your incompetent and/ or selling a crappy product, in which case you should consider changing careers.

I've been in capital equipment sales for nearly 30 years. I'm not modest, so I'll just come out and say I'm very good at it. I make pretty good money (over $300K - and no, I don't have a smoking hot wife and run a sub 15, before the wisecracks start)
My type of selling takes months to years to close a deal, involves many steps and involves selling to lots of people at a single account. However, I am suited to it. Could I sell encyclopedias door-to-door? Fvck no. That would be very difficult for me, but easy for others.
Sales people really are born, not made. Lots of people just see the money and think anyone can do it. Salesy types find it easy and usually make big $. If you find a good niche, though, you can have a good career in sales without being super intense and aggressive. Pick something v technical which creates a moat.
Zero qualifications other than a lack of morals

BS
Buyers lie WAY more than sales people
My brother in law sells lighting... think LED for businesses, etc., and pulls in over $200k... he works hard, but has a good life.
I set up a table on the side of the road to sell farts in a bottle.

you really think that's accurate? I worked with technology Sales people as their engineer and they don't have it easy. Very high stress, your sales commission structure is often getting changed, you face an ever increasing sales quota, there's an incredible amount of technical knowledge you need to even talk coherently to customers who are technical and people generally have your attitude about sales people from the start. If they're good there is high reward. I'd say the good ones deserve it.

Months or years? Ugh. If you're good like you say, and I believe you, why not find something where you can control the sales process and cycle more?
I also sell capital (150-300K products) and our sales cycle is a few days to a few weeks.
