Professional intellectuals hate capitalism because they don't produce anything anyone would voluntarily pay for.

But I'm so much smarter than those crass businessmen. And what I do is so much more pure! Why do they get all the money and credit?
they hate it because in capitalism you get paid for actual products, and intellectuals get paid for nothing, ie college profs of some worthless class. they dont like other people making money from working, it makes them feel inferior.
they are the ones who feel they should be in charge of "communal" living, and thus have the power cause they are the intellects of the group. in large scale its called the leaders of communism/socialism, and "they" are smarter than you so they get to make the decisions. these include what your job will be, what your food rations will be, what your worth as a citizen is, what your healthcare will be, what your rights will be, who can have children, etc.

Read a book.
how about you go get your friends together and make a commune....trust me the "intellect" will try to do the least amount of work and try to assume leadership based on his intellect.
sh*t you dont even have to do that, go on a 4 day minimum camping trip with 8 people or more, watch the "intellect" try to assume command of the trip, if its all beta males they will all fallow, one alpha male though and there will be a mutiny and people choosing sides...but yeah i need to read a book
Based on this additional information, I think you'll need to read at least three books.
Because any system that financially rewards a few selfish psychopaths at the expense of 90% plus of us is evil and sucks.
Pretty obvious if you ignore the self serving brainwashing the elites feed us through the media and all the institutions they own and control.
The real question is why anyone who is not a self serving psychopath supports capitalism.

My employment contract is a voluntary exchange of services. When I buy things, it is a voluntary exchange of goods. The economy is not zero sum and capitalists do not get rich at the expense of anyone.*
*unless they are crony capitalists who use government power to rig the market. And guess who enables this? It is usually well-meaning but woefully misguided intellectuals who want to increase government power. Think Elizabeth Warren and her love of big bank protectionism...er...I mean financial regulation.

Hoping you're not typing on an Apple(r) product, given that Jobs was, indeed, far along the pychopathic (or at least sociopathic) spectrum...
per capita disposable income is not the right way to see whether food is more affordable, because much of disposable income goes to the wealthy. You would want to look at the range around 0-100k to tell us something meaningful about the affordability of food for the poor, working class, and some of the middle class.
Starving, angry & poor are bad for business & the rich. Need to keep them hungry but not oppressed. Otherwise crime goes up, and your life and riches are at risk.

Why do trolls always start a thread with a question that is based on a supposition that isn't true?
(PS for the Trump voters let me explain - They don't always do that but this was intended to be ironic)

Because it gives the libturds something to whine about and thus lets them avoid discussing the subject.

Because many conservative trolls can't argue on the merits present in the real world so they have to make up fantasy land scenarios to support their arguments.

Capitalism: because it's my money.

"Capitalists" think that the free market is great as long as they see themselves getting ahead. But once they get ahead they want the market regulated or the government to give them special aid or protection to keep themselves ahead and to keep others from naturally replacing them through competition. They want to ignore that capitalism is cannibalistic and the free market is supposed to keep turning over. They don't like intellectuals because they understand how the definition of capitalism has become so twisted.
