I say 2:05.even with the virtual pace thing. I still don't understand why Nike wouldn't want him on the sub-2 project, but I'd guess he didn't want to have anything to do with it.
If the WR is the same in the fall, I think he'll take it down.

I'm just hoping the other runners give him a wide berth at the start, or the organizers give him his own starting area, so he doesn't trip and fall again
2:02:42 FTW
Kenenisa will run 2:02:13, and while he crosses the finish-line, a lightning bolt will strike the clock over the finish-tape, and the LED will briefly read,
O:WN:ED
1:59:38 -- fueled by hate and contempt for Nike's upcoming sub2 farce
Oh my goodness, that would be the most beautiful thing of all time.
Hope he can get under the WR, but a win and sub 4 would be pretty good tbh
Well, actually he is part of the original sub 2 hour marathon project, which consists of runners from all over, regardless of what shoe brand sponsors them. Wilson Kipsang is part of that same group.

I'd love to say he betters his PR in a dominant win, but he has been so inconsistent at the marathon. I'm not even certain he'll finish.
If he is dropped before 35k he will DNF.
If he is in main pack at 35K he wins.
It will not be a PR nor a CR.
I just don't see him breaking the WR on this course. But later in the year at Berlin...

Pretty narrow window for Bekele not to get a PR, but still manage the London CR. In other words, not a PR is almost certainly not a CR.
From what I remember, the CR (that is a few seconds off Bekele's PR) was set on a day that Bekele finished 3 minutes back. Can he improve by 3 minutes on this course?

He was knocked down by the runners surging behind him. Dubai has a clusterfu*k of a start.
Someone raised an air horn in front of the pack. The pack got ready. Then some fool fired a starting pistol.
The lead pack started and stopped with the pistol, many realizing it wasn't an air horn. Too many of the back of the packers shoved into those ahead and bumped the lead runners. Then air horn person hit the air horn. Then the runners started moving. There were a few casualties--Bekele and someone else.
It all happened pretty quick. It isn't clear who fired a starting pistol. Maybe it was a prank.

That's why he said it won't be a PR or a CR.
Kipchoge ran 2:03:05 in London. That's the course record. Bekele's PR is 2:03:03. Bekele's event/course PR is indeed much slower than 2:03:05. However, we were talking about an actual PR, not an event/course PR.

LOL, come on bro. "so inconsistent" is a ridiculous statement.
Paris 2014 - 2:05:04 CR 1st
Chicago 2014 - 2:05:51 4th
Dubai 2015 - DNF
London 2016 - 2:06:36 3rd
Berlin 2016 - 2:03:03 1st
Dubai 2017 - DNF
London and Berlin are very near as speed course.
In a normal day he will do 2h 02' 20"
I'll say 2:07 (and Daniel Wanjiru FTW).

You got me there. For some reason I thought there were a couple more DNF than that.
I also forgot Kipchoge ran so fast last year at London. I was thinking the CR was around 204.

That 2017 Dubai race was a DNF because he fell wor was tripped hard. Not his fault. So basically Bekele has only had 1 bad marathon race (he was in injured coming into that race).
