They should both be DQd.
DQ them and take away their finisher medals and fake legs. You ass.
Just saying. Any better pics of it?*

Seems to be a fad these days to carry someone across the finish line. White Knight syndrome being enabled by the media!
Wave #4 is not competitive.

Eh, no. Their finish place probably in the thousands? Just a grain of sand at the beach.
And what about this guy? Getting carried to a 3:10 finish.....

Wonder if Peg Leg "got in there."
What is actually inspiring about this? This seems to be the new collapse to the ground after you cross the finish line. It's just embarrassing and these people should show some respect to the distance and other competitors and train properly for the race.
Whether you are carried by people or a bus/subway you are Rossi-ing the distance.

Yep. This keeps popping up in my Facebook feed. It's great that a wounded vet is running the marathon. Most of us can't imagine what he's been through. But does he have to prove his manhood by carrying this woman over the line? It's just absurd.
I'm also sick of this "inspirational" crap being attached to distance running. It cheapens our sport. Run the damn race!
This is basically what the marathon has come to now. It has been diminished to sideshows and sob stories. You can get more recognition for running a 5 hour marathon and carrying someone across the finish line than the winner.
If you didn't know she was his guide during the race and it was an inside joke (him carrying her across the line) between the 2. She did not need to be carried and was not injured or anything. It was just a joke that turned into something else.

No one gives one f*ck about your 2:32 - this is more noteworthy.
Some of you people are arrogant pricks. You see another human being in need, you help them. Doesn't matter if you are competing for first or 10,000th positon. If that involves you getting DQd, then it does. Maybe there was no immediate medical assistance available and it was quicker for the person to carry the other one to the medical then it would have been for that person to run to the end, then alert medical professionals a runner was down. Seconds save lives.

Thanks for the background detail. Goofing around during a fun run is 100% okay. If this were to happen during the elite race, there would be big problems, but as long as they're not in danger of impeding other participants, then party on!

the quality of many of people who post here is below scum level. It's shameful and I'm ashamed that you are American.
And you are a freaking moron if you are reducing this act to some kind of superficial macho thing. Read a little more about the bigger picture and the struggles soldiers have when coming back from war, especially it they have been permanently injured.
Talking about "cheapening the sport" in this context of life and death and sacrifice you could never understand.
Coward
I see your point, but that would equally apply to other sports. The Boston Marathon is arguably the most important event in distance running, at least in the US. Would football fans be happy with Superbowl coverage being mostly about wounded vets playing football?
As for vets and how they are treated (health care etc), that's a huge issue. But you gotta understand that in the long run, we should just no go to war anymore in countries like Iraq. It's pointless and only leads to suffering on both sides. Instead of addressing the root cause, we glorify soldiers (often only on a superficial level, it would be more helpful to provide them with good health care) in a way that creates even more nationalism.
