I have 2 weeks before a half marathon where I would like to try PB
Currently is 1.28
I ran 2 half in preparation, the first 3 weeks ago was a good test (1.29) the second one week ago disappointing (1.33, hot day and feeling bad all' the previous week)
I trained 3 months averaging 60 to 70 km per week, 4/5 workouts per week
Usually two easy runs (12-15 km), 1 workout with reps (5/6 up to 8x1000, 4/5 x 2000 mainly, active recoveries)
Some tempo runs (10-12 k) and speedwork here and there (20x200, 10/12x400 up to 15x400) but not on a weekly basis
Approaching the last week of workouts before tapering, would it better to work only on HM target pace with longer reps (e,g. Tuesday 3-2-1k with short active recovery, friday 3x3000 or 3x4000 @ target HM pace)
or
a mix of 1 workout with speedwork (10-12x400) on Tuesday and longer reps in Friday would be better?
I feel I need both stamina and speed, I know last 2 weeks won't change the whole thing that much, but mainly I am wondering if speedwork is still useful at this point
