The heat this year did not add 4-5min. It probably added 2.5 minutes and the wind took back under 2min. So it's basically an average year.
2.5min comes from jack Daniels for 71 degrees for a 2:30 marathon.
I thought rojo and co where crazy to predict Hasay to be top American. Turns out they knew what they were talking about. Desi ran well and Jordan still finished a place ahead of her. I didn't see that coming.
Forget the time, 3rd in a her debut marathon is a great result for Hasay. It's comparable to Huddle's debut at NYC which is another thing that I didn't see coming given how much more impressive Huddle's track credentials are. Wow, just wow.

I love these comments. Accounting for wind, rain, heat, cold, hills, altitude, turns, cobblestones, grass, course profile, competition, running in lane two, indoor track ... his/her performance is "worth" today's time minus .
Except it isn't. It's worth a 2:23, a fantastic result just as is.
A VERY impressive result. She looked so happy when she crossed the line. I was happy for her.
Congrats Jordan!!!

You are in a hole and digging deeper.
Your either very young or over-the-hill middle aged. You seem incredibly out of touch.

The tail wind was not as perfect as it was in 2011 when it was a WSW wind that was consistently at 20 mph+ for a good part of the race. It was also 15-20 degrees warmer on the course this year. I would say the wind took 2-3 min off, but the heat added 4-5 for the women this year. Net 2-3 min slow. On a flat course with 45 deg temps, Hasay would have run 2:21 easily.

You are not including the fact that Boston is a net downhill course.
She has the heart of a lion. Really. She keeps it in a jar.
I wonder what her plan is for World Champs. I heard she was going to give the 10k a go on the track but why not target the marathon? Alberto will have her ready for the heat. She would be a top 5/10 threat.

Stop being an argumentative, confrontational d-bag. Anyone with an IQ above 60 understands that she performed well in a race. Therefore, it is completely accurate to describe the event as an impressive performance.
Wow. I actually started crying too during that interview. She is amazing.

If you stay hydrated (or close to it), then how can the temperature affect your performance? Slight dehydration may even help you in the short term because you will weigh less.

What does this even mean?
Great race for her. And she certainly shows promise.
For a incredibly talented high school athlete that has struggled as a pro, it's a good sign.
However the Marathon is brutal mentally and physically. There's no guarantee that she'll even improve from here. This is the show-me sport, and she'll have to prove herself by being a consistent marathoner/road runner over the years, competing against an ever-more competitive women's field now that more east African women are getting in the game.
A promising start, and hats off to her for putting up a good race in a major Marathon. Let's wait and see from here.

I believe it's 2017, no?
Barring injuries Jordan has a good chance to win a major marathon at some point in her career. Excellent race and performance for first marathon.

How did you know today's race wasn't super-aided just like the 2011?
