I understand...to each, her own. In my view, you leave yourself no room for error when you go out too fast.
I think a 1:21 is a pretty relaxed pace especially because I have been racing much faster for shorter distances. For me I think if I went out in 1:18-1:19 that would be too fast and would leave no room for error. I think bonking and hitting the wall after starting out in 1:21 would mean I probably wasn't properly trained for the distance. Marathon training is an animal. haha
