He is?
You are a window licker and a troll, and you probably have never gotten laid.

Texas Instrumentulo wrote:He ran a little extra on the turns. Could be 1:42 if the rabbit wasn't in his way
there was lot of time to come off that race, far from perfect
his splits were too narrow, probably because pace not fast &/or not done any speed work
- he splits 1s +ve splits, worth ~ 0.33s quicker off ideal 2s splits
- he lost at least 0.33s when baulked by kenyan around 1st bend & he fell back & had to catch-up
- he got very little drafting as wide so much of run was wide, owed ~ 0.25s
those sum to 0.91s or 1'42.69 !
this doesn't include running ~ 5m extra on bends ->
1'42.69 * ( 800 / 805 ) ->
1'42.05 !!
the kid is in 1'42-flat shape in april & not yet done any speedwork !!!
he shoud be chasing 1'41 definitely this year, probably 1'41-flat if he gets "perfect race" in summer
you're good for comic relief. Go back to you Jim Ryun bs it's where you lost your credibility

brief vid evidence of his incredible 880y WR indicates differently, just that 2 laps was of no interest to him except in games years
he wanted 1500 gold not a worthless 800 one, but you try both in games years
this is brief clip of the 880y at barely 19y, off jog to bell with huge amount of wide running on bends, ill so bad he shoudn't have been running !!!, with a prelim 880y just coupla hours before !!!, on windy+ day on asphalt track nowhere near as quick as '70s track :

is this a joke ???
how many 800s did he run in his peak year of '99 ???
off barely 44 hours rest from a 3'29-low, he travelled long way from brussels -
rieti & ran a suicidal 49-high opener with ~ 6m extra on 1st bend !!!, on 1st lap of a 1k !!!
if he'd run a 800 that day, he'd have likely gone 1'41-high & that's on whacked legs carrying a 3'29-low from meagre 44 hours before !!!

analyse the race
he is in ~ 1'42-flat shape & hasn't done any speedwork !!!

Wow... only 2 full days of rest?! The poor fellow!
I think this is why people call you a troll, Calculo.
Deanouk's comment wasn't deserving of any critique whatsoever.
eh?
1st thing that any serious poster does is await for full race description or better still the vid
i awaited posting until full vid available & analysed it, meaning 1'43.6 was nonsense, kid likely in 1'42-flat shape
aforementioned had seen vid & still maintained 1'43.6 ?!?!
it's like claiming bolt winning gold in '08 in 9.69wr when he danced his way to finish was in 9.69 shape & not more like 9.63/9.64
or marsh when running 200 semi in '92 into wind, when wr was mennea's ancient likely illegal lane-cutting 19.72, & claiming marsh here was only in 19.73 shape :
calculo, GO THE F*CK AWAY
No one wants you here. We all think you're an idiot. Your schtick is tiresome.

only 44 hours as brussels was an evening meet & rieti an afternoon one & i saw both on satellite & long tricky journey from brussels to rieti
or do you think ideal prep for an attempt for the 1k WR is a 3'29.19 from just 44 hours before with long tricky journey thrown in ???
I agree that Murphy was definitely capable of 1:42.xx, but I don't think that matters to everyone the same.
I actually do appreciate your synopsis and agree with it for the most part, however, I think the sharp critique should be saved for those other passionate posters.
For example, I don't think anyone cared about what shape Rudisha (or anyone in that field) was in when he won the '15 WC Gold in that tactical 1:45 race.
At the end of the day it is just a matter of "what did they do, what did they need to do" for most posters here.

Cheers.
I was just offering praise on what Murphy has done in reality, not what he could do in a perfect parallel universe! He ran 1:43.6 and looked very impressive.
I'd like to think my analysis of his race and generally is based a bit more on reality.
A few points:
- Not everyone runs their best times with a 2,0 secs positive split. Some prefer more even splits. His were 51.4 & 52.2, pretty good for a 1:43 mid performance. Moreover his 200m splits, which were about 25.2, 26.2, 26.1, 26.1, were pretty even, with the first one faster, as per expected. There is no proof he would have gone faster had his first lap been 0.5 sec faster.
- He did run wide on bends 2 and 3, but never reached anywhere near the line with lane 2 on any bend. He looked to have run an extra 3.5 - 4m in total. Worth about 0.45 secs.
- Usually elite 800m performances are helped with 200m of drafting from 200 -400m. Murphy had full drafting from the break to 200m, and then half drafting (on the shoulder of Sowinski, not entirely behind him) from just before 300m up to 500m. That equates to the same benefit as 200m of drafting. Of course, had he been directly behind the leader from the break to 500m, then he'd have had 400m of full drafting, and his time may have been quicker. But that is more drafting than anyone would expect, and the case can be made for numerous others being faster than they actually run.
I would say that Murphy could possibly have run a 1:43.0 that day had he not run wide and been directly behind Sowinski for both bends.
That is exceptional form to be in for April. It would indicate a 1:42 and a US record later in the summer. Talk of 1:41.0 is rather fanciful I think.

~ that grainy clip shows 5 secs of the 2nd bend from the final and he is in lane 1 and being drafted.
~ it shows nothing of bend 3. It shows him at 500m on the curb being drafted. No discernible extra distance.
~ it shows some of last bend where he is tight on inside. No extra distance.
~ no account of race has ever mentioned it as being windy. Offer reference or reliable source stating otherwise.
~ he wasn't ill. You make it sound like he was dying. So ill he ran 2 more races the next day. Accounts of the race say he had a 'bit of a sore throat' and that he had 'a tremendous burst of energy' at 500yds.
~ offer papers or reliable sources that show asphalt track was 'nowhere near as quick as '70s track'?
Total hyperbole.
Ryun speaks of his illness in interviews you can find. Don't recall whether he mentioned wind but you can see the flags probably. It shows about 30 seconds of the final, up to 2:58 in the video. He is wide and he just flies down the homestretch, looking much faster than 1:44 caliber. He was just running so easy to that point. And what was the track like? Ryun was more than ready to run much faster--this might have been his best event, considering that he was so primed to run fast laps rather than hold a quick pace for a long time (he could do that too but only twice was really prompted to do so, once at altitude after mono, the other time the last 1320y in around 2:46.
is this a joke ?
is this a joke ?
find a 1'42-flat/low that has ever been run without slower than 2s +ve splits ???
murphy already a 1'42.9 guy on timid race after rounds
eh ?
like who ?
who has run 1'42-flat/low off slower than 2s splits ???
no
- not when baulked by kenyan before 1st bend, costing at least 1/3s
- lack of drafting
- slow 1st lap
- 5m extra on bends
no
you have no idea what his opening 200 was
don't claim you timed it from vid as that's a joke
his last 200 was 26.1 which is awesome for a fast race as that's kick in a fast 800 consistent with
~ 1'41.4 !!!
no
you have no basis for his 1st 200
is this a joke ?
we have 50y of history to go on !!!
ideal splits are 2s with slowing 200s of 0.5s
is this a joke ??
he was well into last 1/4 of lane both relevant curves, ~ 2.5m each for 5m total
no
5m
no
~ 0.64s
yes
is this a joke ?
no consideration ever given for drafting until reaching 200
even worse for kid, he got clipped by kenyan sending him backwards & losing at least 1/3s before he even reached 200 !!!
is this a joke ???
he barely got a sliver of sowinski's shoulder the whole race
is this a joke ?
he got barely 50m of "full drafting" for whole race
is this a joke ?
gold standard is 200m of "full drafting"
kid got composite 50m
is this a joke ???
from the drafting he got from sliver of sowinski's shoulder, it was no more than ~ 50m
is this a joke ???
- lost 1/3s baulked by kenyan before 200m point
- lost 0.25s from drafting off only sliver off a shoulder
- lost 1/3s from jog to bell & 1'45-pace to it, considering final clocking
- ~ 5m extra on bends
that boils down to
1'42-flat
& i offered him nothing for wind
the flag in infield was blowing moderately strong, worth easily few tenths for 0 wind day & offering likely dip into 1'41s
no
he is in at worst
1'42.0
right now
only if if you think with paucity of rigorous analysis
with expected speedwork, he shoud make run at
1'41-flat

Seems like a shot at Brazier to me.
