Training hasn't gone as planned. Off and on for about 4 months, averaging 30 miles per week, much of it at a very slow pace.
I ran just one workout each week...usually either a 6 mile tempo at 6:15 pace or a 3 mile tempo at 5:50 pace. I also ran 8, 10, and 12 miles continuous at goal pace (6:45)
My last hard long run was three weeks out...16 miles at goal pace (6:45)
I'm not sure this training was good enough to break three hours at Boston. I train in a pancake flat area. I didn't run any hills or downhills. I haven't raced during my training cycle either (got sick for a scheduled half marathon 6 weeks out)
Now I'm hearing that it may be warm this year again at Boston. That can't be good for my goal, especially since I feel like a sub-3 is so close to my absolute physical limit under ideal conditions right now.
I'm not sure I'd be happy running a 3:03 or 3:07 or whatever. Something about sub-3 just makes it seem more worth it.
