Depending what distances you're racing, I find the New Balance Zante to be a really good flat. While it isn't necessarily made to be a racing shoe, it's light and gets the job done, especially for 10K and up if you aren't an elite caliber athlete. I've worn it for some 5Ks as well and I have had no problems there. I'm not currently training in the Launch, but I wore the Launch 2 for a while and found it to be a good shoe for me.
Thanks. I have a pair of the Zante's (v1) and though I found the ride super comfortable, they didn't feel "fast." Like, I actually feel like my workouts go better in the Launch. I'm just looking for a 5k-half marathon shoe, and would probably even wear the Launch right now in the half, so maybe a 5k-10k shoe. I don't do well with super minimum shoes, the 1400 was always my go to. Maybe I'll give a workout to the Zante again and see if it feels a bit better this time around. Thanks.
