None of the sponsors will do anything. There is a certain something called charity extortion and charity intimidation. It is not direct and forceful extortion & intimidation, but it is implied. Try, as a business, to say no to a charity and see what negative publicity you get. Dave knew this going in.
They were misled though. The sponsors signed up for something that could never have happened. You could certainly prove in a civil court that the "balance of probability" shows he could never have completed a LEJOG in world record time.
He could still end up in a criminal court for fraud, because fiddling a funded trip and loads of free gear is benefiting financially from a scam, and that is fraud . Watch this space - Might happen.
