Holy cow. An official wanders on to lane 1 and chaos ensues. First one to link a replay wins a prize.
Whamsauced!! Ouch, that's gonna leave a mark.
I thought he was going to be in Mar-a-Lago this weekend.
This official should be fined. He showed no awareness and walked right in front of the runners.
He showed little respect for mid-distance runners.
Sir, I know if might be hard to pay attention to a race that lasts longer than 60 seconds, but please try.
And yes, if you follow this track and keep making left hand turns it leads right back around to this point. There are runners that will go all the way around the track multiple times without stopping and they will be running right past here again in about one minute.
These young men will run almost four laps around without stopping. And if you wait a little bit, you can see both young men and women running 25 laps around the track!
It looked like the leader, #2658, actively pulled the official out of the way and off the track with his hands. Too bad the official also fell down during this...
If 2658 was pacing, he went beyond what was asked by actively clearing the track of flesh boulders for the pack behind.
Pretty entertaining clip.
obviously, the official was at fault, and compounded it by jumping in front of the runners when he saw the race was going on, rather than moving to the outside, but I hope that he is okay. He was old and was body-slammed (understandably) to the track.
What made him jump? Looked like he saw a snake or something.
Bizarre. I don't know how looking before crossing the track doesn't just become an involuntary reflex for someone who spends any time at all around the sport.
Even when I'm working out alone on an otherwise empty track, I automatically look before I cross because it's engrained in the same way as looking before crossing the street.
Those guys work for free and pay for their own food, gay bar, and airfare. They'll never be banned for an honest mistake. Even the official hit by the shot ai IAAF Portland Indoors is still at meets.

Bodyslammed??? Come on man. He fell.
Interesting is how puny and ineffective a runner's mass is in a collision. He was running 15 mph and barely budged that official.
The runners saw him crossing their path and didn't yell at him. WTF is wrong with children these days?

Look again. If, as you say, the initial collision "barely budged" the official, then how and why did he he hit the ground so hard, and face first at that?
Answer: because the rabbit grabbed his jacket by the left shoulder and gave him a hard yank. And down and out he went.
Not blaming the rabbit at all; he was instinctively doing the job of clearing the track. But the official didn't just "fall".
I think th official was getting the rabbit off he track.

By the video, it looks like someone probably said "watch out!" to him or something to that effect when it was clear a collision was possibly going to happen, and instead of moving to the outer side of the track he quickly stepped to the inside lanes area to get out of the way, instead of realizing that the runners were going to be there.
Now that's what Solinsky should have done to Merga.

I was in the race. I heard 2 different people yell "TRACK!" Very ridiculous, and does not need to continue his career as an "official".

I'm pretty sure this official is on Meldonium.
Looks like an honest mistake and reaction by all. Better than last night's meet when the winner of the community mile coming down the home stretch nearly knocks and jabs a kid down b/c he was in his way. Not a cool move...:(
