My daughter runs a mean 18:00 5K and just graduated from college with a ton of sponsorship money. She gets complete housing, food, running shoes, car (and insurance!), and pretty much anything else she wants. She gets to go run races in Europe this summer while visiting friends, paid in full by her sponsor. It's called the PARENT SPONSORSHIP!
So, I don't know Awad's situation, but he may be financially covered by other means. If so, he may not really need a crappy sponsorship if it requires a bunch of BS appearances, wearing shoes and kits that you don't really like, all for an allowance that just covers rent and food. Plus, he can surely continue to train with many other top-shelf guys without an official sponsorship.
