Congratulations on winning your State Championship already. You are an extremely strong and fit young man.
I never ran track or XC in high school, and only started "jogging" as a hobby during my Junior year in HS. I later made it to the Olympic Trials in the marathon and won 2 marathons outright.
I don't think that you should be worrying about your workouts at all. 10x400 in 62 is very, very good. 8x800 in 2:08? SERIOUSLY? 15:03 for 5000 meters of XC, is extremely good.
You should relax your mind and have fun. Worrying about this and that and your workouts and your shoes and your competitors leads to *stress*. Stress makes you tie up. When you tie up, you don't run worth a shit. When your mind and spirit are free of worry, you will run your best. This running "thing" that we do is meant to be joyful and fun.
Think long term, about continuing to develop your mind and body over the years. Focus on health, relaxation, nutrition, social development, and most importantly, your academics.
You absolutely should not concern yourself with your competitors in your state. Their lives are their business, and none of your concern. Your life is YOUR business, and only your business.
I wish you well.
