I am running my first marathon on 9th April and am hoping to break 3 hours. I was wondering if anyone could give some pacing advice - I have a HM pb at 82 minutes (comfortable) and have done a 16 mile 'effort' run in 1:44. I've done some 20 milers too but at approx. 8 min per mile pace and lots of 12-16 miles runs. I'm operating at about 60 miles per week.
I would like to come through the half in 1:27:30 or 1:28 to allow myself a little bit of a buffer. In most races I can kick on towards the end and dig in when I am struggling but obviously this is unknown territory. I am very conscious that I cannot start too quickly as I often do during half marathons or other races.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
