I'm a sophomore in college and landed myself with a metatarsal stress fracture this time 12 months ago. As of last Sunday, 3/19, the initial symptoms seemed to be returning, so I ended my long run after two miles, and did three half-hour runs last week (for whatever it's worth, I posted the other day about the difficulties of running in the Caribbean, but my resolve was thwarted a bit by the potential injury).
I have run 30min, 45min and an hour the past three days, and *shocker* the foot is not 100%. The race I'm peaking for is April 15th, and my fitness from before on 60mpw has not really disappeared, but I'd obviously like to have it both ways and race without getting hurt again. It seems to me that any training I do between now and then will be on borrowed time. Have others been in this limbo situation before, and if so how did you deal with it?
