I really do hope Rupp runs a fast or fast-ish time.
But I'm doubtful. He had plantar fasciitis, right? Same thing happened to me end of last August, and it's still healing. I don't know how he's even going to run Boston properly, let alone a fast time in Prague a few weeks before.
Galen never had plantar fasciitis.
Alberto made that up because it was too hot to go for the American Half-marathon record in Houston.
They decided to pull the plug at Houston with an imaginary "plantar fasciitis" excuse.
However, the new Nike $250.00 4% shoes may give everyone who wears them a really bad case of PF…or some other serious injury caused by too much energy return... which increases running economy by 4%…but also increases the odds of plantar fasciitis and/or achilles tendonitis by over 78% in Nike lab testing.
However, Galen was NOT wearing the shoes in Houston.
Alberto did not want Galen to have a FAILURE EXPERIENCE in Houston…like Alberto had at the 1984 LA Olympics.
Alberto had permanent emotional damage from that race that he never got over.

No worries; his close-friend-and-training-advisor-who-no-longer-officially-coaches-him will just inject it. 50 ml every 6 hours!

Meh it will be a jetlagged tuneup effort, not counting on it being fast
Yup. I expect a 1:02-1:03 marathon pace workout, if he even reaches the starting line.
I'd see Rupp FTW in about 59:30
Rupp 59:04
Oregon project says he's going for a FAST time

Galen is use to swallowing pills.
Especially if they are mailed to him hidden in cutout magazines.

We're looking at 58:40-58:55 folks....
Man, I don't get all the Rupp hate. I don't like how NOP does things either, but Rupp is by far the GOAT American runner EVER at 5,000 and up.
But sub-59, um, no.

Maybe.
Alberto Salazar might have a few problems.
During its research into the matter, USADA found that a pharmacy located near Houston had produced the infusion bags for the runners. The investigators are in possession of a form from the pharmacy dated Jan. 4, 2012, noting that four 100-mililiter bags were being prepared. The next day, Rupp received an infusion from his doctor.
The investigators wrote that it appeared to be "highly likely" that Rupp received "an L-carnitine infusion from Dr. Brown in excess of 50 ml." If that happened, then both would have been in violation "of the applicable anti-doping rules." The consequence for Rupp would be a suspension.
The runner claims that he adhered to WADA rules when taking the infusions. Brown also rejected the allegation through his attorney, saying he "did not infuse athletes with 'almost certainly' more than 50 ml of L-carnitine solution." He accuses DER SPIEGEL of having fallen for "fake news."
Coach Salazar has an "obsession with the testosterone levels of his athletes," the USADA report states, adding that he was conducting risky experiments to increase the production of hormones in his athletes -- by using vitamin D, for example. The recommended daily dose for adults is 600 IE. IE stands for international unit. The USADA report states that the pills Salazar gave to his runners contained 50,000 IE. He encouraged the athletes to take them several times each week.
Their report also alleges that Salazar has sworn by thyroid hormones for years. His substances of choice are called Levoxyl, Thyroxine (T4) and Cytomel (T3). Brown is alleged to have prescribed the medications to the athletes even though they didn't suffer from thyroid problems.
The substances became a "kind of throttle" for Salazar. He used it to "try to rev up the runners, to help them recover from a hard workout or prepare for an important competition." Salazar also denies this claim. The only priority for those suffering from a thyroid condition is getting them back to normal. "There is no such thing as making them better than normal or enhanced."
SALAZAR it appears, is COACH, DOCTOR and PHARMACIST all in one. He also apparently decides when athletes are to take their preparations and WHAT DOSE THEY SHOULD GET.
In a Dec. 20, 2011, email to Rupp, he wrote: "TAKE A FULL EXTRA LEVOXYL TONIGHT AND START ON CYTOMEL RIGHT AWAY. P.S. I'VE GOT CYTOMEL. IF YOU DON'T HAVE IT, CALL ME AND I'LL DRIVE IT OVER."
The substance isn't on the anti-doping list. But Perikles Simon, a professor of sports medicine at the University of Mainz and respected doping expert, thinks that's a mistake. "Thyroid hormones increase metabolism and they do not belong in competitive sports," he says.
SPIEGEL presented Salazar's emails to the professor for comment. "This trainer is acting as an alchemist, a drug procurer and hormone adulterer to these athletes," he says. "He should be banned immediately; there is no reason for delay."
http://www.spiegel.de/international/world/is-nike-covering-up-dubious-practices-of-runners-a-1137229.html#spRedirectedFrom=www&referrrer=Alberto's testosterone 'experiments' on his sons broke various federal and state drug laws, since he was administering the schedule III controlled substance and prescription drug AndroGel to two other people who did not have a prescription for AndroGel.
ALBERTO SALAZAR IS NOT A DOCTOR and should not be telling Galen Rupp to take "a full extra Levoxyl" and "start on cytomel (T3) right away".
Then ALBERTO says that HE HAS THE PRESCRIPTION THYROID HORMONE DRUG CYTOMEL!!!... AND CAN DRIVE IT OVER TO GALEN RUPP. IT THAT HAPPENED, IT WOULD MEAN THAT GALEN RUPP WOULD BE TAKING ALBERTO'S PRESCRIPTION DRUG CYTOMEL.
ALBERTO SALAZAR IS ALSO NOT A PHARMACY AND SHOULD NOT BE DISTRIBUTING THE PRESCRIPTION THYROID HORMONE DRUG CYTOMEL TO ANY OTHER PEOPLE…INCLUDING GALEN RUPP…SINCE THAT WOULD BE ILLEGAL.
Questions:
1) Why does Alberto Salazar have the prescription thyroid hormone drug cytomel (T3) at his house?
2) Does Alberto Salazar have a prescription from his doctor to take cytomel for his 'hypothyroidism' medical condition?
... in addition to having a prescription from his doctor for testosterone gel to treat his 'hypogonadism' medical condition?
ha ha ha
Galen and Alberto will break the American Half-Marathon Record!
I don't think Rupp is doing anything close to the doping done by many top East Africans, and he's probably within official regulations. You're worried about Rupp breaking the American record yet you're not concerned at all who has the current world record? Really?
Sweet haircut

Why Not? 26:44 on the Track is better than most who have gone sub 59, and Salazar's runners are often best at half marathon, examples Goucher and Hasay best event has been the half marathon (so far for Hasay) and Ritz's best race was the 12:56 for 5000 after that his 60:00 and 60:12 Half marathons are his best performances at any distance (except for the mentioned 12:56), and while Rupp has not ran a fast marathon yet, he got 3rd in the Olympics, I have a feeling Rupp will excel at Half Marathon.

No he isn't. He is not better than lagat at 5'000 meters who holds the american outdoor record.
And he is not better than Ryan Hall at the marathon, because ryan holds the american record, and ryan holds the american half marathon record as well. Rupp will never in his life run 2:04!
I even put Dathan ahead of rupp in the marathon, because Dathan ran 2:07. Rupp has never broken 2:10. Also, Dathan has the second fastest american half marathon time
So how is rupp the greatest american runner at 5,000 meters and up??..
And I haven't even talked about Meb and Khalid for the marathon level.

Hall doesn't have the marathon record.
It's a pretty safe bet to say OVERALL that Rupp is the greatest american distance runner. Lagat has beaten him in quite a few 5ks, but not in many other distances. Rupp's time is only a little behind Lagat's, and Lagat spent half his career as a Kenyan during the EPO era. Not to knock Lagat specifically at all, but he doesn't beat out Rupp for overall best american distance runner. And Rupp has some time to get some good results at the marathon distance. He already has a global medal at it. I'm not sure I follow your argument. Who's a better overall american distance runner?
