I ran a trail/road 18K race this weekend. I ran very strong on the flats and the uphills on the roads and trails, decently on the wide trails but I totally sucked it up on the single track flats and downhills. Back in the good old days I could run six minute pace on the trails but I seem to have lost that ability. Now I run very tentatively on anything narrow.
My question is, is it just me or do other masters runners also have a hard time running fast on trails? I am not sure what the problem is 1. loss of coordination 2. worsening eyesight 3. ?
Any similar experiences?
