douche deserved it
I don't know enough about little boy wrestling, but here's my hot take:
1) the eventual dude little boy who threw the punch looked utterly exhausted, but he's only been out there like a minute. Low iron?
2) is that a legal move, to push his head into the mat like that? or is it one of those, "legal but frowned upon" rules?
3) the eventual dude little boy who threw the punch threw a monster punch.

I'm assuming it's later in the match (and that's the reason for the exhaustion).
But, neither wrestler has much skill. Everything is pretty basic & clumsy there.
As for the head mushing move, the match was still in action. Usually things happen much faster from both athletes for take downs & pins & points. I can only assume their lack of talent is what's causing a lot of actions here.
In my experience (as a teacher), the actions of the kid throwing the punch is not too far from unexpected from high school wrestlers. I bet I'll take some flak for saying that. In my 17 years of teaching, pretty much all the wrestlers from our school are jerks. Perhaps that's the nature of the sport. I don't know.

I'm not sure if you are just trolling but you obviously know nothing about what you just watched...
1) Those "little boys" were 170lbs. Much bigger than most runners. And if you look at the clock the incident happens with 4 seconds left in a 5 or 6 minute match (depending on the consolation bracket rules). If you have never wrestled 5 minutes before give it a try... it is easier to run hard for 5 minutes than to fight off someone else for the same time.
2) pushing the head down isn't illegal, it's just physically dominating. As long as he doesn't slam the head to the mat it isn't frowned upon either.
3) That punch had force, but was thrown with poor form and from a bad angle. A desperation "haymaker". Anytime you mix that much pain and frustration in an event like that, tempers can flare. I have seen college teammates throw absolute bombs at each other in practice out of frustration. Only to sit down with a beer after practice and laugh about it. It's an environment that most people could never understand.
In this case it was a gutless cheap shot and should never have happened... that being said, the kid's coach handled it right and immediately removed him from the situation. That wrestler would've been disqualified, not revived his 6th place medal, and would have been suspended from the team's next competition (maybe more than one).
Not trolling. Don't know anything about wrestling.
1)Right, but they're still "little boys" cause they're high schoolers. The last time I wrestled was middle school (I won my weight class thank you very much, but it was just in gym class, not on a team) but don't remember anything about how tired I was. I didn't realize the match lasted that long.
2) Thanks for the clarification. It just looks a bit of a dicky move.
3) Dude, I'm not going to pretend I know how to throw a punch or what is good or bad form. I mean it was thrown with a bunch of aggression. I got in 2 fights in my life and I'm embarrassed by that. Not that the number is low, that the number is high, as fighting is so stupid.
1. neither of these wrestlers is very good. The kid in blue is truly awful. The lack of speed of both wrestlers is completely crazy. Unless the first couple of periods were the most intense action of all-time, there's no way they should both be this slow/lethargic. They are gassed like it is the end of the 3 hour practice session on the first day of the season.
2. pushing the face down is totally legal and a move that is used often.
3.I think the punch was thrown out of frustration and just completely being dominated.
4. The refs did a nice job of stopping it without any real damage.
5. The kid that threw the punch should be suspended the rest of the season or be talked into quitting the sport all together.
Blue guy had this look of futility and hopelessness. Other guy was toying with him at will.
Blue guy needs to switch to running.
