Okay a bit of a long story. I'm a sophomore boy (around 120 lbs at 5'2) I ran around a 5:09 1500 as an 8th grader (for reference. I think that's about 5:2x)
Bluh bluh. Had a really crappy xc season freshman year, as well as an okay outdoor.
Now, come this xc season was just as bad, (I'm talking 20min 5k's) and a cruddy indoor season, and now, a poor start to my outdoor season. What gives? So I usually do very well in workouts, but lately I've been dropping, and badly. My most recent good workout was when We did 10x400 in 73-76, about 1-1:30 rest in between, I did 9 averaged in 75. That's a pretty good indicator for a 5:00 or sub 5, right? I ran 5:30 today in a meet, my splits being 2:30 and 3:00, exactly. I DNF at a 2 mile race at an invite that was only like 11:20 to 11:30 pace? Idk what's up, I feel like I'm not getting fitter at all, and I was much better In 8th grade. My coach keeps telling me it's mental, which I have decided it's true, but even when I race tough, I still never race close to my potential. I need help and I need it fast. Thank you. :)
