Just finished reading the men's preview. They raise an interesting point. Olympic 5000 silver medallist Paul Chelimo is in amazing shape. He's in Uganda for the 4 x 2k and wants to run the 10k at World XC but isn't on the 10k team.
However, if he switched places with either Fabule or Dunbar , TEAM USA would be in a much better place for both team and individual medal odds.
So here's my question. If you were Fauble or Dunbar, would you give up your spot?
After thinking about it, I would. There is zero chance in hell I'd give up a spot if I didn't get to run at all. But in reality, they'd just be switching races. So I could still say, "I ran a world xc," and I'd be helping the country out.
