Well he doesn't even know that sub 3 hour pace is ~6:50 pace so this should go well.

If he's going to break sub 3 next year, we should take a pool on over/under on the number of missed mats.

kp_kellyI'll be lacing up my shoes again in a few months, training for my last remaining running goal: Breaking 3 hours in a marathon (sub 6:40 per mile for 26.2 miles). Sub 3 hours is a goal I had given up on for 10+ years. I came close a few times back from 1998-2004, but not since. I'll be doing my sub 3 in next years @clevemarathon. One race, one shot at it. It will be a challenge. The running across Ohio and 100 marathons...it was mostly about being the toughest SOB there is and just taking the discomfort and pain and continuing on. That doesn't work with a sub 3 goal. I have to turn my body into a performance machine. I'll have to work really hard to get my top end speed back. It's within my ability, but just barely. I'll do it.

KP Kelly will be pacing the 4:40 Marathon. He is also the brother of Kara, the pace team coordinator and helps facilitate the pace teams.

The giant bald bearded pacer, at 6'7'' 270lbs, you won't miss him out on the course. He is a Social Media Consultant that splits time between Daytona Beach Shores, Florida and Columbus, OH.

KP has run over 300 Marathon and Ultra Marathons and this is his 20th year at the Cleveland Marathon.

He is a 2-time Boston Marathon finisher, with a marathon pr of 3:02 and half pr of 1:21.

He is currently focusing on training to compete in 100 mile races and loves running marathons as training runs and to have fun hanging out with the running community.

KP's advice to first time marathon runners, and all runners: "Just keep going. We are all capable of far more than we give ourselves credit for.

Don't over think it, just get to the start then put one foot in front of the other and just keep going.

Don't give up, especially on yourself. Adversity will hit, but you will finish the race before you."

I think it's time to bring this thread back.

He does not "hang out with local runners". In fact, he is hardly friends with any of the local runners because they all think he is a huge fraud.

He has resurfaced on Facebook, unfortunately.

Im not understanding how he is allowed to have anything to do with a race like the Cleveland Marathon after how blatantly apparent it is that he cheated his way into Boston and lied about the 100 marathons thing.... has someone emailed the race director directly?
