Jimmy is a fun entertainer, but as a "singer,," he's terrible.

And he wrote some great songs in his early days. He couldn't sing much then, but now he pretty much just yells the lyrics. And he's awfully crotchety for a supposedly fun loving guy.

Definitely not.
Well, his back up singers are good!
Not bad, but it's no "All along the watchtower" Hendrix cover of Dylan
He also describes himself as an adequate guitar player at best. I think its a huge joke that he i supposed to be laid back beach guy. He's a walking corporation.
I'm a big Buffet fan, but I hadn't heard his version before. I was sadly disappointed. It's pretty much terrible. But the original Southern Cross is pretty much untouchable, so I'm not sure who could cover it to get my approval.
No - Dave Matthews Band - Watchtower is the greatest cover of all time.
Glad I could but an end to this conversation.

Agreed and this may be the best version of said cover.
https://youtu.be/r4pivEj7JZg?list=FLkZ5zc9JEXQbsNc7Xh9L-QwBuffet is a tool. The people that consider themselves Parrot Heads are bigger tools than him. At least he is blatant in his "I'll do anything for a buck" schemes.
Musically Buffet and KISS are in the same ball park. Crappy > mediocre but they bring in amazing amounts of cash off of a stupid dedicated populace.
You guy's don't get his enthusiasm and aw shucks attitude I suppose

Dave Mason provides the best cover of the Dylan tune.

I would say you've got to be kidding me.
The Animals covering Clarence Ashley's "House of the Rising Sun"
The Allman Bros covering Blind Willie McTells "Statesboro Blues"
Hank Williams covering Emmett Millers "Lovesick Blues"
All superior covers.
