Didn't get a job because of my Seiko

By not a Rolex, he really means you need a Rolex, and the price has to be above $10,000. Not some crappy Sub-Mariner.

Should have gone with a garmin 735, he would have known are reliable and versatile.

Maybe a troll, but I'll voice my support for Seiko anyway. I've worn one for years and it's a perfectly serviceable watch. It's never attracted any attention one way or the other. Of course, I work in a field where style isn't a huge concern.

So are you a diver, a runner, or a banker? Your sending mixed messages.

I think the manager's point is that a "serviceable brand" is not the image they're trying to project. The OP says that the quality is just as good as the Swiss brands but much cheaper. Again, this are entirely the wrong images to project in a field where fashionable style is important.

Totall illegal. Its right there in the constituion. You don't even need a lawyer for this one, just go to the local courthouse and you can have it fixed in 2 minutes.

Seikos offer amazing value. Quality is amazing for what they cost. The seiko 5 is the "gateway" drug to automatics; costs 70-100 bucks and has a pedigree.

Seiko kinetic drive is their well-known tech characteristic.

After about $200 the extra cost is really only for image.

Just don't buy a shinola fashion watch which is owned by fossil. Costs $650 for a darn quartz watch, cheap ronda movement, and cost of materials and labor is like $70 if memory serves. For pricey watches you really need automatic movements since it takes art and skill to make it. A battery--any watch manufacturer can do that.

Hamilton's are nice as are citizen (eco drive) and orient watches.

Bankers have no sense of style, so they rely on price tags to tell them what is stylish. There is nothing stylish about wearing some gaudy hunk of metal that shouts "look at me, I'm a Rolex, and I'm approximately the same size as a wall clock," but if the price is high enough, bankers will think it's classy.

I think it was in the Big Short where Micheal Lewis said that Wall Street guys have the bizarre ability to know the price of any suit despite being completely clueless about fashion. Same idea with the watch.

Well this is exactly the kind of advice I followed when I bought my Seiko and wore it to the interview. And it didn't work for me, did it? Sorry, but I'm a little bitter right now.

Do you really want to work somewhere where you'll have to worry about things like this all the time? Wear the damn Seiko and appreciate the fact that it will prevent you from landing in a situation where you'll have to stress over every accessory.

Next time buy a Rolex, wear it to the interview, then return it.

Who cares about the brand...you bought a dive watch on a stainless steel bracelet to wear to an interview, where I assume you were in shirt and tie, maybe even full suit. Didn't anyone ever teach you how to dress yourself?
