Yesterday, after a good winter of training, after work, I went out to my nearby asphalt track to do an informal 5K time trial.
it went as follows...
1600m 7:13
3200m 14:15
5000m 22:04
..this was with heavier shoes (11 ounces, compared to my usual 8.4 ouncers I race in) and generally right after work without a warm-up or stretch.
I typically train about 30 miles per week of running (and, in addition, walk about 20-25 miles per week). My running training usually is variable between parts of 6:45ish per mile to about 8:00 per mile at different parts, as well.
With a PR of 19:35 in 2015, and at the age of 43 (in a few days), do I have a chance at a similar speed season or maybe possibly quicker?
And yes, if you're going to say something about "hobby jogger," "slow," etc., save it. I am asking about times for my season, not in comparison to anyone else. thanks
