Hey!
So I put in a 14 week training block for the Virginia Beach marathon on sunday. I peaked at 70 miles and ran 6 weeks at 60+.
I have a PR of 3:00. I have run 9 marathons. Going into this race a did a half at MP and a 5 miler in low 31 (no taper, workout three days before, 16 mile day, etc.)
So the race this past weekend was "gale force winds" that sounds like it was up to 40 mpw for at least half the race, with rain and sleet. You know... great conditions. By 16 when it died down I just couldn't do it anymore and it was just survival.
I've never turned around from a marathon so fast (did 14 weeks before) but is this a good idea or bad idea? At this point all that's left is quad pain. The proposed new course is close and flat with a 3:00 pacer.
Thanks!
