Speedsuits for sprinters were all the rage for years. Then Usain Bolt came along and destroyed every WR while wearing a baggy top and now a lot of people are doing the loose top, half-tights combo
If aerodynamics didn't matter for track then the world records wouldn't care about wind speed. The fact is that aero drag has a measurable effect. All runners should be wearing skinsuits since specialized fabrics are much faster than bare skin and definitely than baggy clothing.
