I'm getting over a hip injury that seems to have recovered and I'm registered for a marathon in 12 weeks.
Before being injured 3 months ago I was running about 50 miles a week with no long run and a few years ago I was a 70+mpw 15:20/ 72:30 / 1:46 (30k) guy.
I was able to run two 8 mile runs and a 9 mile run without pain last week, and was able to drop down under 6:20 pace at the end of the 9 mile run without pain. Assuming no relapses to the injury, can I run a reasonably good marathon in 12 weeks? If I was uninjured all year I would hope to run under 2:35, so is 2:40 a possibility?
I have the option to switch to the half marathon. Would it be better to just train for that off the bat and bail on the full?
TIA
