So, I am a sophomore running varsity track. Recently I have been recruited to run with one of the best teams in the state. It's a good opportunity but I don't now if it would be a good idea to take it. Any advice?

Are they that good because of their coaching or because of their recruiting?
Coaching
It is very unethical
OK Charlie, then go there. You can benefit from practicing with stronger runners if you have a well developed winner mentality. Otherwise, being surrounded by talented runners with strong personalities may result in some mental blocks that will affect your performance.
Make sure that you do not fall pray to self-promotion crap from the new coaching staff. Attend one practice and try to determine what makes them better, not different, better than your current coach.
Realize also that your star will not shine as brightly in the new team and that your voice may not carry as far either. There are probably benefits you get in your current team, benefits that you have not yet learned to appreciate. I am not suggesting that you wait until you mature enough to appreciate those benefits. Just be a good soldier, respect the chain of command and you will do fine.
ummm ????
Ok I will attend tonights practice and i'll check in tomorrow
Ok so I attended practise. They do stuff a whole lot different. They are a little more strict then what my former coach is but they push you just as hard. Adjusting to their practise was also hard because they do stuff a whole lot differently. It's a difficult transition going from being a Star to having other girls being just as fast as you their first outdoor meet is today and they'd like me to attend just to get a feel.
Is this a private school? I would assume it's against the rules to recruit another team's athletes in public high schools.
A lot of these teams are good because they recruit all the best kids from the area. That's not to say that the coaches are bad; just that there's a good chance they're not any better than other coaches. Like the other poster said, make sure they're better, not just different. This can be hard to tell just from listening to them talk (a vocal minority of coaches are self-promoters). Talk to the other kids on the team to see what they think.
Hate this. Cherry pick the talent then beat up on the public schools so you can advertise all your state championships. Have some integrity and run for your town, your school and your team mates.
Yes it's a private Christian School.
I'll try this tonight thank you!
Hey you can't tell me that if this did happened to you, you wouldn't take the opportunity. I'm already getting college recruiters watching me. At my school i have teammates telling me to take it. I talked to my school's principal and activities director and they even think its a good opportunity. So back off, I was asking for advice, POSITIVE advice, I don't need your negativity.
Sounds like you weren't asking for advice at all, you just wanted validation of your own opinion. If so, then why bother to ask at all? Just tell yourself its best for you and move on.
Why is the coach recruiting you if you can barely even beat the girls on the team? Sounds like you aren't as fast as you think you are.
If you're already getting college recruiters watching you why would you move? And who pays for this private school? Well trolled.
I feel like ik who u r.
That's the point. They weren't expecting me to beat all the girls on the team. My times are just as fast as theirs. I don't consider myself fast. I just push myself to beat my own times, not theirs
I'm not going to their school, i'm just running for their team.
