Thanks for the reply. I ran sub 49 once only. usually 49.5 that season. I ran sub 49 in relays about 3 or 4 times - 15 mins after an 800. okay + .7 running start - still equal to best 400 flat.
I have a theory - i was relaxed - lack of nerves
funny story when i ran my pb 400. i was sitting in the stands, announcement came over , "we are starting the 400s early", within 15 minutes i was on my blocks - v brisk warm up - one km brisk run and three strides then PB
