CHESEREK DETHRONED IN THE MILE FINALLY
CHESEREK DETHRONED IN THE MILE FINALLY
weak effort from Cheserek.
Sat up with a a lap to go and beaten
correction: redshirt freshman so probably 27 year old age cheat
If Ches is going to lose in a mile it's usually in a bizarre style.
This race was super physical Ches got bounced around then tried to make a big move but then there was another move behind him.
Reminded me a bit of when Jordy Williamsz beat him at Penn.
Also can we not that American's never beat Ches, it's always foriegners... the USA NCAAers need to nut up and stop being so intimidated.

I was thinking the same thing about Penn Relays. When the first lap was slow, my thought was if Ches is gonna lose this, it's gonna be because he goes out too slow and lets someone else have a chance who wouldn't have before. Sure enough, with the 800 at 2:10/2:11, everyone was in it.
Another win for Scotland… They may not be able to play rugby, but they've got some half-decent runners at the moment.
Is that Ches' cryptonite? Should the 3000m guys simply jog the first 2000m? Then wind it up with 800m to 1000m to go?

They probably don't have the speed to make him worry
Gourley in 4th is also from Scotland
that's why you don't rip a 54 last lap in your prelim and earlier races in the meet. takes a lot more out of you than you think.
he was too confident, but I'm really happy he went for it. he puts himself out there way more than other ncaa runners. he didn't need to do all these races, oregon probably won't win the team title.
if i was cheserek, i'd focus on winning the 3k, take a couple weeks of very easy running, then focus on a fast 5k race (sub 13:00) this spring/summer.
who gives a sh*t about more ncaa titles when he has so many already.
on another note: the mile field was really weak this year, no?!
also: do you think chess will end up with a career like lawi lalang? i thought lawi would crush the international scene but he kinda fizzled somewhat
Kerley 44.85!!! Shazaam!

In the 3k, probably not. He's raced more than anyone else in the field this weekend, so some of the fresher guys should try to hammer it from the start (and maybe work together) if they want to beat him. That would be a fun race to watch, too.
Going out too slow might be Ches' kryptonite in the mile though.
Just heard he had really bad gas and it took him the first lap to unload

no no no...don't you remember the post race interview. Ches "let Jenkins win."
