Since an easy day is essentially just a day to allow your body to recover and rebuild is there really a such thing as going too slow? I have researched/read up on it and always get mixed opinions on the matter so what do you guys think?

I believe there is. like if your slow pace is 6:40, running at 9-10:00 doesnt do much of a damn for you, the effort is like walking
Yes of course. If you are that tired that you need to run your easy day abnormally slower than usual, just take the day off.
My 60 minute run done at the slowest possible pace would consist of me simply standing in one place for 60 minutes. That would be too slow. So, somewhere between a pace that would be considered "too fast" and standing perfectly still, there necessarily lies a point where my pace becomes "too slow."

I second the guy who said the 6:40 pace to a 9/9:30 min pace. But for the vast majority of average runners who run at a 8:30 easy pace it's not extremely detrimental to run a 9:45 or even 10 min pace. What should be said is if youre running so slow it feels uncomfortable or you feel like youre running with two left feet, then thats the defining line of too slow. Like the other poster said a day off wouldnt kill someone either. There comes a time when the juice isn't worth the squeeze, especially if one is trending downwards or something.

Well easy running is considered necesary to develop base, and for developing hade i would say yes, typ can run too slow. For recovering however i would say no, even walking is fine for that.
Whatever too slow is, it must be really really slow, because some world class Kenyans are known to jog around at like 10 minute pace.

Yes, any run in which you intentionally change your biomechanics to run slower is too slow
If your are already stressing your body with hard efforts and/or overall high mileage, then the purpose of the easy day is truly just to recover while maintaining mileage. In this case, you can't run too slow.

These guys who can run a marathon in 4:45 pace are starting their easy run at 8 minute mile, and then after 20 minutes, speeding up maybe 7:30.
For those of us mortals, that would be the same effort as if we ran our easy day at 10 to 9 minute pace.
If you aren't really training that hard to begin with and just trying to fit in a 30-45 minute run every day, then each day could be a little faster in order to get some training stimulus. Your body is not already so stressed out that you need to recover that much. So the 'easy' is not as much about recovery as just a slightly less difficult training stimulus in the overall context of fairly easy training to begin with.

No, but there is such thing as too slow on easy girls.
I tip toe 5 km on my easy days. It takes about 3 days and 5 and a half hours to complete. so ya my easy days are usually 3 in a row.
by adding tip toeing to my exercise regime I have been able to get significant calf development.and my regular runs have improved drastically.

I have trouble believing this.
But someone who normally runs 7min pace could likely get away with running 8-8:20 pace but much slower than that may mess with your form and many not be worth it.

Yes, you could go too slow on a recovery day, but it's unlikely. Running too slow would generally feel uncomfortable/awkward and I don't know why anyone would do that. An easy pace actually feels good, has proper form etc. The far greater risk is running your recovery runs too fast, so that you aren't actually recovering.
