FWIW, UKAD appear reluctant to hand over the samples for retesting.
USADA wants to retest samples taken by UKAD from Mo Farah as part of their investigation into Salazar? How is this news?
The only story here is that USADA doesn't trust UKAD.
USADA would have tested Mo Farah countless times themselves when he is in Portland. UKAD aren't going to fly out every other week. USADA will test all athletes residing in the US.
The daily mail. The ultimate hype train. There is honestly no information in this article at all.
USADA says it wants to retest Salazar athletes. Ok? Who cares? Actually find something then I'll care.
This title:
USADA Allegedly Asking For Mo Farah's Drug Test Samples (Daily Mail UK) for USA re-testing?
Is wrong. It says nothing of the sort in that article.
What it does say is this:
[Quote]The Daily Mail said Sir Mo Farah’s sample would be among those analysed, although it would be for UK Anti-Doping (UKAD) and not the US authorities to decide whether there was cause to look again at any tests taken by British athletes.
USADA aren't asking for samples to be sent to them. And the only evidence that Mo Farah has even been targeted is from the Daily Mail, who name themselves as the source of this information (the daily mail said).

However, to me it would sound more logical if Rupp was blood doping and Centro was on the roids/androgel.
You'd think so at first, but EPO would probably help you more in the 1500 were VO2max is key, while steroids would help you recover during brutally hard marathon training.

Since when was VO2Max 'key' to anything?

How do these journalists have access to the USADA report? Is it available to the public to read? I can't seem to find it anywhere...
Fancy Bears leaked it.
I also don't get why every article like this has to spend 6 paragraphs explaining who Galen Rupp is before then going into the newsworthy parts. If I am clicking on an article about Galen Rupp on a website based in Denmark, that's about as niche as it gets. Go out on a limb and assume I have heard of him before and watched the Olympics.
Imagine if every time Leonardo DiCaprio made a movie, the reviews started with "it started in his bedroom as a 6-year-old boy with small hands and a big dream. His favorite cereal was Kix, but an acting coach saw so much more potential. Now those tiny little hands touch supermodel butts with almost daily regularity."

Centrowitz microdosing?..give me an eff'n break. Not that kid. Not that family. You think USADA would have let him toe the line, or any of the other NOP athletes toe the line, if they had a shred of hard evidence? All they have is 269 pages of gossip as far as I can tell.
.
Not in that family? People from coast to coast are laughing. Centro Sr's closest friend is Don Clary, who did time for 2 felony cocaine convictions. Ask around. Centros dad is no angel.

The only big concern is the Western world is all about covering or digging the explanations to allegations like these and finding the truth for their own athletes but if such allegations were against third world countries like Kenya and Ethiopia, the western world would be going crazy and labeling every athlete from those countries as a drug cheat. So sad but true.
I see your East Africa tilt, but this isn't exactly like finding Coach Aden with syringes and EPO in the team hotel room....In fact, that actually happened and the "western world" barely gave a shite. We were way more in to hot Russian tennis player and meldonium.

I'm a huge Centro fan, but even I had pause watching that 1500m final. The way Centro handled the likes of Mahkloufi and Kiprop and others was stunning, even in a slow race that favored him. He seemed to have a little extra "umph" in his engine that day :/
I have previously voiced my dislike of the men's Oly 1500 on these boards. However, Centro won because he ran brilliantly. The slow pace was not his fault. It was the fault of the other dozen guys who were content to sit behind him. They were jogging slow enough that "leading" at that pace was not really a detriment. So when the sprinting began, Centro was at the front of the line, and got to run unimpeded on the inside lane. All he had to do was sprint 500 meters at least as fast as everyone else, and he would cross the line first. Which is exactly what happened. I am not surprised that he was able to sprint 500 meters as fast as everyone else. I would assume that all the world class milers have pretty much the same sprint speed. To me, Centro's win is not evidence of doping.
I would remind everyone.
1) If they had anything actionable, charges would have been filed.
2) Despite #1, I think it's fine this stuff is reported on. I was arguing with a guy the other day who was convinced G Dibaba was dirty. I said, "Why do you think that?" He said, "Hotel raid." I replied, "We can read all the leaks we want but if they had anything to act on they would have. Don't you think they would have filed charges by now if they found anything in the raid?"
3) It's not fair to assume G Dibaba and Aden and the foreigners are dirty based on rumors we've heard or the allegations of past athletes (Drouich) but then assume Salazar and company are clean as there also are rumors and allegations from past athletes (Goucher, etc). The vice versa is also true.
Each situation isn't a carbon copy of the other but there are many similarities between the two.

Ahem, no.
Do you realize that 50 seconds is not fast at all for world class 1500/mile?
Snell, Ovett, Coe, Tanui, Rohdal, Schuman, Kipketer, El G all split under 46 seconds for 4x400 in their careers, ever heard of them??
Coe could run 400 repeats all day at Centros fastest 400 time!
It would be really, really good if we could see all of the underlying evidence instead of relying on second and third hand summaries of it. Rojo, Fancy Bears seems willing to leak to just about any site that asks, why don't you get in touch with them?
The new stuff in here really concerns the suspicious blood samples for Rupp and Centro. Plus a little more detail on why they think the 50ml infusion limit was exceeded.

And who runs a 50 flat 400m at the end of a 4:08 mile equiv???
Someone who trains specifically for that, which I had read they did. If runners can run 52-54 at the end of a 5k or 10k, this is awesome, yes, but not impossible off perhaps the slowest ever 1500 in start on a modern track. He has the speed, and the earlier lap were, essentially, a warm up. Those trying to pass him have to go further than he, and expend more energy. Plus deal with the tussle of a crowded group all with the same wait-and-kick idea. It was clearly the plan they trained for and the others all fell for the trap.

Exactly.
That was a pace that anyone with a real kick and paid attention could have won. Pacement and placement won that race. And sprintitude.

I agree with this as someone who supports strong drug policing efforts. There are ranges in test results caused by training patterns, hydration, altitude changes and natural bio-rhythms. It doesn't appear that the numbers are far enough out of line for the NOP athletes to warrant action by the USADA so they should either put up or shut up. This matter has dragged on long enough. Likewise, I hope that this investigation discourages Salazar from spending any more time in the supplement and medication area and simply train his athletes.
With regard to the post about Shannon Rowbury, she has run two or three pretty good races this indoor season contrary to the poster's comments about her being absent.
Rowbury clearly said those races were in preparation for a double at USAs. So I agree, it's strange that she has scratched amid these reports.
What's the false positive rate on these tests? Does it vary with time as samples degrade? Let's say they're 95% reliable. USADA conducts 20 tests. 1 comes up positive, doesn't mean anything, and they run with that and don't publicize the proportion of tests that came up positive.
I'm not saying I think Mo is DDF, as they say on Grindr. I'm just saying that nobody is trustworthy and transparent in this affair.
I understand they leaked it, but I want to know if there is anywhere the public can read the leaked USADA report. I checked Fancy Bears website and it is not up there.
Slow tactical races are common in championships, but 50.x last 400s are not. Centro had an exceptional finish, even by all-time historical standards.
