"Suspicious" - but not enough to warrant any action? I am firmly in the camp of thinking NOP is against the spirit of the rules (and very possibly in outright violation), but reporting "suspicious" lab values that did not merit a ban seems really unfair to the athlete. Testing is not perfect and there is an allowable margin of error, which presumabley USADA/WADA decided at the time to be within legal limits. It's misleading journalism to report these "suspicious" lab values. (Unless, of course, the doping agencies haven't made a final decision yet on these specific test results.)

Get your blood tested at sea level. Head up to altitude to train for a number of weeks, blast a few hard workouts in the heat, get a few random blood tests while you're there. Don't worry about being hydrated or dehydrated. Surely it won't matter. Head to sea-level and do some racing, get another one or two drug tests, fly back up to altitude for more hard training, get a few more random blood tests along the way. Fly to sea level and try to get blood tested every day while you're down at sea level.

Go do that and get back to us. Let's see if if your blood levels are the same each day. But please let me spare you the trouble and just tell you right now your blood tests are going to show some wide discrepancies from time to time. Fact.

American anti-doping investigators believe they have enough evidence to re-test the samples of athletes at the Nike Oregon Project, it was reported on Saturday.

The Daily Mail said Sir Mo Farah’s sample would be among those analysed, although it would be for UK Anti-Doping (UKAD) and not the US authorities to decide whether there was cause to look again at any tests taken by British athletes.

Nicole Sapstead, chief executive of UKAD, said in a statement responding to the report that “status is no barrier to thorough testing or potential investigations”, adding: “UKAD treats all athletes in the same way.”

The only big concern is the Western world is all about covering or digging the explanations to allegations like these and finding the truth for their own athletes but if such allegations were against third world countries like Kenya and Ethiopia, the western world would be going crazy and labeling every athlete from those countries as a drug cheat. So sad but true.

I agree with this as someone who supports strong drug policing efforts. There are ranges in test results caused by training patterns, hydration, altitude changes and natural bio-rhythms. It doesn't appear that the numbers are far enough out of line for the NOP athletes to warrant action by the USADA so they should either put up or shut up. This matter has dragged on long enough. Likewise, I hope that this investigation discourages Salazar from spending any more time in the supplement and medication area and simply train his athletes.

With regard to the post about Shannon Rowbury, she has run two or three pretty good races this indoor season contrary to the poster's comments about her being absent.

How do these journalists have access to the USADA report? Is it available to the public to read? I can't seem to find it anywhere...
