I'm married with two toddlers and can consistently get in anywhere from 70-90 miles a week. This is possible due to a few things:
1). My office is less than 10 minutes from my house. Usually when I pull out of the driveway I can be at my desk 7-8 minutes later.
2). I have a somewhat flexible work schedule and rarely have to work over 40 hours a week.
3). My kids' daycare is also less than 10 minutes from my house.
Daily routine is usually like this:
6:00am - Wake up (kids are also usually up and ready to go). Help the kids make their breakfast.
6:30am - Head out for 30 minute run while my wife eats with the kids.
7:00am - Come back in and eat my breakfast while goofing off with the kids for a little bit.
7:20am- Shower, brush teeth, put on work clothes
7:35am - Leave for work (wife takes kids to daycare on her way to work)
7:45am to 4:15pm- Work (30 minute lunch in there)
4:30pm- Get home and head out for 60 minute run. Wife gets home from work around 5 and gets supper going.
5:30pm - Finish run and pick up kids from daycare
5:50pm - Return home with the kids, eat supper
6:30pm- Clean up some, play with kids
7:30pm- Give the kids a bath, read bedtime story, put them to bed
8:00pm- Kids are asleep, spend time with wife
9:00pm- Go to bed
There are some variations from day to day. Sometimes I will take a long lunch and run during lunch and work til 5 or so and pick the kids up right after work. On Saturday I'll usually run 30 minutes in the morning while my wife eats with the kids, and then 60 later in the day, either when they are napping or just whenever my wife has time to watch them. Sunday I'll get in a long run (1.5 to 2 hours) right away in the morning. My wife usually lets them watch TV for a good bit of that time. And yes, I do watch the kids and give my wife some time to herself on the weekends.
