This past weekend at the Armory was the Indoor Heps T&F Championship (aka Ivy League). It was a 2 section final for the 200m. The first heat of four people went off with no problem. The second heat - which was supposed to be the fast one - only had 2 athletes line up, as there were 2 scratches due to injuries sustained earlier in the meet. The second heat starts but gets called back because of a false start, eliminating one guy. So now, there is only one person left to race alone for the 200m championship in this heat. The guy who was DQed tried to get back on the track to run, giving the field some competition, but the official would not let him because he said "the event had resumed" (or something like that) because the starting official had already said "on your mark" when the DQed guy had left the track.
Well, the race finally goes off. The only sprinter remaining runs and wins in a new meet record time that is also tied for the fifth fastest ever in conference history.

Has anyone ever witnessed a racing situation similar to this?
