Good Morning HRE and Everybody!
PHEW!
"Whoa-oa-oa! I feel good, I knew that I would, now
I feel good, I knew that I would, now
So good, so good,
Whoa! I feel good, I knew that I would, now
I feel good, I knew that I would
So good, so good, So good, so good,
So good, so good"
Plop, plop, fizz, fizz, fizz, oh what a relief it is, fever broke, pain is gone, Silliness has taken it's place! (to the tune of the old alka selzer commerical)
Yes, my running buddies, I feel just delightful, thank you very much. Had a wonderful night's sleep, no sweats, eyes are clear, neck isn't stiff, joints are just a tad creeky, but that's always the case nowadays. NO HEADACHE! Hooray! I can smile with my whole self now!
I'm not out of the woods, though I can see the clearing up ahead.
I think I can make it now, the pain is gone
All of the bad feelings have disappeared
Here is the rainbow I’ve been praying for
It’s gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright)
Sun-Shiny day.
And That's All Folks!
Have a great day!
So sorry to hear about your illness but glad to hear you caught it early, which is a key.
I'm sure you are disappointed but the bright side is you KNOW you can make another comeback.
Sending you best wishes for a speedy recovery, all the positive energy I can muster, and prayers.
Keep the faith,
Another comeback...I don't plan on it TSU because this one is still continuing. I feel great....I know, I know, I know, I'll be conservative and I'll ease into running and not overdo. I promise.
I have some time to still rest up without losing a beat. August is still a couple of weeks away and I can start counting days then. We'll see, but I think things are going to be ok. Only time will tell, but having a positive attitude can do wonders and I really believe I'm crossing that finish line in Honolulu.
The only thing I can do is what I am doing...keep my hopes up. This Lyme is a new thing thrown in the mix and it can be worked with and I'll find a way to make it work. I am so happy it wasn't the running that was making me tired.
I still plan on crossing the line in Honolulu in 2005.
In the meantime, I'm off for another rest.
Will this thread catch the Renato lactate one? These have to be the letsrun.com records, no?
This one does not even come close----

I can't imagine what could possibly be further said on this thread. The last 50 pages have been dreamy reminescing and discussions of planned marathons. Start a new thread for pete's sake, or end this one. There is no record to be had here, so why continue it?
Patti,
It great to hear that you caught the Lyme so early. If you get it fully cured (and that can sometimes be a problem), then you'll likely have no lingering effects.

Patti,
A few weeks back, I was talking to Toshi D'Elia and she mentioned a race called "Sun, Sun, Sun" in my hometown (Westfield, NJ) as one of her favorites. Then, last night, in a conversation with another friend, he mentioned the race, and mentioned that you and Grete Waitz ran it (different years). I was wondering if you recall it?
Wayne
I ran a race in New Jersey? Ooops! I don't remember, I'm sorry. Oh, how'd I do?

why analyze it? who cares?
According to his story, Grete won it by a wide margin the year she ran. He got your name wrong, but there was no doubt in my mind it was you. I suspect you won, but really don't know. Toshi indicated that this race was held for perhaps 3-5 years, then went away. I understand the shirts said "Sun Sun Sun" on them, and perhaps a full outfit was given one year. We'll have to see if anyone else chimes in on this...but because it was a women's only race, unless guys were there as volunteers, they won't know. This limits the chances of success.
"I ran a race in New Jersey? Ooops! I don't remember, I'm sorry." Oh, and NJ is memorable like that!
Toshi D'Elia, she's an amazing women. A true pioneer fo women's running.
Wayne how is she doing now?
I took Toshi up to Utica, where at the Boilermaker, she set a national age group record for 15K in the 75-79's. So, I guess you can say she's doing pretty well.
I hope Toshi doesn't mind my sharing how she wound up at Utica by mistake. Toshi had apparently seen a list of nominees for the National Distance Running Hall of Fame which included one of her idols, Miki Gorman. Toshi described seeing Miki's success just as Toshi was getting into running. Because of her name (Michiko - sp?), Toshi knew she was Japanese, and it gave her confidence and inspiration she could succeed. Thus, thinking Miki was getting into the hall, Toshi requested elite status at Utica. Needless to say, she got it. Although she later realized that Miki was not being inducted, Toshi decided to run the race anyway. Needless to say, her efforts were rewarded.
By the way, did you know Pete Squires back in your prime? Also, Bruce Robinson?

Raven Dillon Trophy and Bronze Medal At the Kelly race!!! WEEEE HOOOO!!!
Great race!!!
Wayne, I beleive the race was Catch the Sun Five Miler in Westfield, an all-women's race. I wasn't there the year that Grete/Patti ran, but I did sneak onto the press truck one year when Shelly Steely won. I snuck into a lot of places back then. ;-)
Skylon,
Thanks for the info. Are you going to to make it to W'field for pizza on Wed?
Wayne
i heard the course was WAY long. anyone concur?

I was not there but I think Patti said she felt it was 3.3-5
We'll find out the real deal from her I'm sure.I'm pretty sure I saw a poster/ad that had "new distance or new course" written on it.
