how do you score no points at conference? how does that coach still have a job?
honestly - they'd get smoked in a dual meet by MIT and about five different D3 schools within an hour's drive, that's beyond embarrassing

0 scholarship. ADs fault.

they need scholarships to run a dmr faster than 10:25?
again, d3 teams all around would smoke them. no excuse.
I will admit - it does look pretty bleak for their program.
Surely the coaching staff can at least support the applications of recruited athletes, even if they've no scholarships to offer. BC has a good enough reputation as an institution to attract at least decent-to-excellent DIII-level talent.

I'm pretty sure my old high school team (along with a couple of other schools) ran a faster DMR at the PA state meet today.

Ok, yep, just looked up the results. BC's time would have put them in 6th or 7th at the high school state championship here in PA.
http://files.milesplit.us/live_results/254444/index.htmlWhy go to Boston College when you could go to Williams/Amherst or really any other NESCAC school? Those seem like a better environment to be in if you're a good D3 talent. Those schools also have done a better job of developing athletes.
Note: I ran D3 but not at a NESCAC school so I'm probably biased towards D3 but honestly I think D3 is the way to go if you're not an elite talent.

eh, i don't know, being able to compete in the acc against better competition, more interesting travel, being able to call yourself a D1 athlete, all of that has some value
i think it's just embarrassing for the school, and obviously the coach has been dealt a tough hand but he's also playing it like crap
D3 needs D1 schools like BC. That way all d3 teams can beat them or a d3 runner can beat all their runners and we can continue to say D1 is overhyped.
Who's the coach there now, Randy Travis, Randy Thomas?

Those D3 schools have something else that BC doesn't ... tracks.
Providence College didn't have a track up until what, 3 years ago? Didn't stop them from being one of the top distance programs in the country for the last 20+ years.
Your school not owning a track is very different from your team not being able to practice on a track.
a DI men's team with no scholarships is obviously going to struggle when compared to a national level D3 team like MIT.
Assuming they recruit 4:20 to 4:25 type athlete, MIT is going to win out. A lot of kids will come to their senses and decide not to go into the ACC. Those that do go to Boston College may develop but soon realize they are so far from relevancy in a Power 5 that they quit or pay lip service for four years.
At MIT a 4:25 athlete would join the 25 other distance runners on the squad in a positive and competitive environment. Some will develop and some won't.
As long as Boston College has zero scholarships they will be worse off than any relevant D3 team.
Good news? AD Brad Bates leaving, announced one week ago, as his five year contract is up and in his wake a disaster.
Football and basketball have zero wins in ACC.
