Their point is that you apparently misstated your point. You said that the shoes last longer than the spikes, and you meant to say that the spikes last longer than the shoes.
That's not true, though. Spikes aren't going to literally break, but they get dull and lose their bite long before most uppers wear out. That's especially true for the high school students who buy most spikes. They're often running on asphalt tracks, and they typically don't have different pairs for workouts and races. On the other hand, if you wear them only for racing, only on Mondo, then spike durability won't be an issue.
