Hey everyone,
I've got a 10k coming up in roughly three months, and I'd like to run a sub 40.
For the record, I'm a 26 year old dude. Right now, I'm running about 20-25 miles a week, typically 5-7 miles at a time, and anywhere between a 6:55 and 7:15 pace depending on how much caffeine I've had that day. :)
This pace isn't particularly difficult for me. I'd put it somewhere around a 4-5 perceived exertion. Sometimes my legs seem to be the limiting factor, as I occasionally feel like I'm dealing with lactic acid buildup and I get 'heavy legs.'
I've never run a 10k for time before. My PRs are all ~6-7 years old (I took time off running in order to purse another sport and recently got back into running seriously a year or so ago)
5k: 18:30
Half: 1:32
Full: 3:06
What kind of training should I be looking into (base building, speed work, etc.), and is my goal feasible?
Thanks in advance!
