I am beginning my first year of coaching track and cross country at a high school.
What are some essential items I should get or think of purchasing for my team and I.

What do you have? How large is your team?
Hurdles
Throwing implements
Jump pits (both horizontal and vertical)
Starting blocks
Stopwatch(es)
Tent for shelter from inclement weather
Tape measure(s)
Less important, but stuff I've found useful
Barbell & weights
Medicine balls
Foam rollers
Spray chalk
Cones
FinnFlier (javelin training implement)
Plyometric boxes (easily constructed out of plywood -- can paint with grit paint too for added safety).
Hip belts to drag sleds, tires, chains, etc.
cones, especially for distance runners. You can mark off any area of a field, hill, track, etc just drop a cone here or there.
Resistance bands for hip and knee strengthening exercises
Foam rollers
An exercise bike for someone who is injured
Clipboard for writing down times
All you really need is a decent pair of trainers (which you can find at your local Target) and some Powerade. No one needs a fvcking cone.
