Hey, I'm a middle distance runner in my 30's. Can still run sub-2 for 800 and sub-4:25 for the mile when I'm healthy but man I get injured all the time and it's getting old. Starting to lose my love of running because it's so frustrating.
Maybe this is an obvious question, but if I transition to being more of a 5k-10k guy, will this cut down on my injuries? I'm not looking to set the world on fire, just stay competitive, stay healthy, keep attacking those prs. I can go sub-16 for 5k but I think my pr is soft. I have no pr at 10k. I figure I could have another 10 years of making progress at these distances before any prs are out of reach forever.
I'm thinking in training I won't really ever need to go faster than mile pace (65-66 per 400) so this could prevent injury. Will this work?
