I think Saina should focus on battling for the win and the time will take care of itself. As for Bumbi, I think he should be better than 2:15:00 for sure.
Our men's preview is now up. Can Kipsang get the WR? What about the CR?

A new Jerry record.
That was a guess btw
Bumbi will go 2:12 like hundreds of other American runners.
2:10 high for Bumbalough
Saina 2:21:14
2:13:09

Yeah I'd guess on 2:13, maybe a hair slower than this. Weather looks pretty ideal though, so maybe he'll surprise me.
So Teg, arguably the best runner BTC has produced, ran 2:13. Why should we think this new guy will run even as fast as that? BTC has a weak history with male marathon performances.

What other make BTC member has even run the marathon? How much "history" is that? C'mon, man.

Regarding males, Teg is the only one; and I think he only attempted two. For females, obviously Flanagan and Cragg have been outstanding.

1) Teg ran 2:12
2) Bumbi is no 2007-2009 Teg, but 2013 Teg wasn't 2007-2009 Teg either.
I'd say he should be in the range of 2:11:30-2:15:30, with anything on the fast end/faster than that being surprising given Jerry's history with marathon MEN, and anything slower to be surprising given Bumbalough's pedigree (though anything can happen in a marathon). He certainly has the talent to be faster than 2:11:30, and so did Teg, and so did Solinsky, and so did Bairu, but sh!t happens.
Wait a second.
Did you say that Andrew Bumbalough and Betsy Saina were doing high-volume training with high-volume long-interval workouts at high altitude in…Flagstaff, Arizona???
Really???

It is just a coincidental synchronicity.
Yeah Teg never gave it a go in his prime, or even close to his prime. A pre-prime Bumbi was beating him on the track before he switched to the mary

Please don't let facts muddle the conversation. Don't you know where you are? Great job on the screen name.

Nelson and Bairu both ran the marathon in their Prime.
Solinsky talked a lot.
We caught up with the two before their marathon debut in Tokyo this weekend. How fast will they debut?
