Hi friends,
I just started running 7 or 8 months ago, been running 15 miles a week and I'm getting pretty serious about it. I plan to raise my mileage gradually and do a sort of periodized multi-phase plan but before that I'm going to run an 800 and 1600m time trial to see where I'm at
Did a track workout of reps w/full recovery that consisted of 1X600, 3x200, and 1x400. The 600 was in 1:55, it was really tough, like 90-95% but not all out at all obviously. Think I had about 1:48 - 1:50 in me if I went all out for it. The 200's were in 35, 35, and 37 (ran the first two too fast and the third on goal pace), these felt quite comfortable in terms of effort but the last 50 meters I'd start feeling a bit of lactic acid. And the 400 was in 1:13 which was really hard but not absolutely crushing in terms of effort.
My sort of lofty target is to run 800 meters in about 2:29. What's the best way to pursue splits to run my best possible time?
What about for the 1600?
Appreciate the help, and I know my times are laughably slow :*(, hoping I can change that :)
