I decided to dust off my heart rate monitor today and tried to keep to the heart rate zone as encouraged by Maff for a flat, easy run.
Mile 1 - 8:15, 142 bpm
Mile 2 - 8:45, 145 bpm
Mile 3 - 9:07, 144 bpm
Mile 4 - 9:28, 146 bpm
Mile 5 - 9:33, 144 bpm
Is that expected or normal for Maff style training? Does that indicate that my aerobic system is terrible? Should I start my runs closer to the pace that I'll ultimately end up at (a minute and a half slower)?
