HS senior, 800/1609 guy
Tore my hamstring early December. Took 7 whole weeks to get healthy. I cross trained on the elliptical but it seems like I did nothing.
Before I got injured I was in 4:30/high 4:20s shape, which is a little better then where I was last spring.
I was doing some math and I realized that my outdoor state championships is a little over 3 months away.
That doesn't seem like a lot of time for me to be ready.
Has anyone had success after being injured for a long period of time.
I dream of going under 4:20 and winning my divisional title this year, but I'm wondering if I can damage that with the time off and the lack of fitness I loss. Just don't wanna get my hopes up.
I'd hate to be running 4:30s/high 4:20s in June. It would suck.
Right now I'm back to normal mileage (almost), and I'm working out, but they are no where near what I was doing before the injury. Each workout does seem to be better than the last however.
My coach (who is great), isn't too worried, and says there's plenty of time to late May/June. But me, I'm worried.
Any stories anyone?
Thanks
